Theorizing Intersectionality and Sexuality

The three editors are British sociologists affiliated as follows: Yvette Taylor and Mark E. Casey (Newcastle U.); and Sally Hines (U. of Leeds). They have all published writings on gender and/or gay and lesbian issues. The broad aims of this collection include exploration of conceptual and methodological concerns of "intersectionality" in conversation with sexuality studies, with international and multidisciplinary points of view. The 12 contributions assembled in this volume are mostly from academics based in the UK, but a few are based in Germany or the US. A sampling of topics: intersections of class and sexuality, conceptualizing multiple oppressions in critical sexuality studies, the complexities of moving in and out of sex work, researching lesbian identity in urban Russia, and researching young people's well being at the intersections of class, sexuality, gender and age.
