商品簡介
Adazzling, emotionally riveting tour de force: the seven stories in The Boat take us across ethnic, cultural, and linguistic barriers as we enter the hearts and minds of characters from all over the world.
In the opening story, a young writer attempts to adapt his father’s chaotic childhood in Vietnam into a trendy “ethnic story,” with surprising results. “Cartagena” gives us a visceral glimpse of the life of a fourteen-year-old hit man living in Medellin, Colombia, whose next target is his best friend. Moving from Hiroshima to New York City, from Iran to Australia, Nam Le crafts an extraordinary debut that takes us to the heart of what it means to be human.
