Psychology, anthropology, and education are among the disciplines represented as contributors from a number of countries discuss evolutionary resonances for play, cross-cultural play variations, the play systemics of education, the variabilities of adult leisures, and playfulness and tricksters. An annual meeting of The Association for the Study of Play is mentioned, but no direct connection is made between it and the 14 essays. Annotation c2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
