Bialock (Japanese literature, U. of Southern California) concentrates mostly on the Heike textual corpus and the world of the 13th and 14th centuries in which it took shape. However he also considers issues that such study raises, such as yin-yang and Daoist ideas in the Nara and early Heian periods; and aspects of ritual, space, and narrative from Kojiki to the late Heian historical narrative Okagami.
