商品簡介
In contrast to England, where services were required to follow the Book of Common Prayer faithfully, the Church of Scotland allowed and encouraged ministers to vary and extemporize within a loose framework. Therefore, almost nothing is known about the liturgy of the 17th and 18th centuries. Two volumes of sermons and liturgies by Logan (1748-88) were collected and published posthumously, and now comprise one of the few sources of information about the normal course of communion services. Editor Robin A. Leaver, a scholar of early modern Christianity, presents texts and commentary. He does not provide an index. Annotation c2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
