Now retired, Laster taught for 42 years in Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia, and overseas in Tehran, Iran, and Beirut, Lebanon, working in both K-12 and university settings. Drawing on cognitive science research about learning and memory, storage, retention, and retrieval, she developed a brain- based approach to teaching some 20 years ago, organized around visual patterns or models of the topic and concepts being taught. She presents her approach here for the first time in book form, explaining the basic concepts underlying the approach and then presenting examples of a variety of visual patterns. No subject index.
