The Kingdom of Mycenae: A Great Kingdom in the Late Bronze Age Aegean

Kelder, an archaeological scholar, analyzes the contemporary scholarship regarding the continuity and character of Mycenaean culture and palace sites in the late Bronze Age period. Drawing on four sets of data, translations of Greek Linear B texts, Hittite texts, Egyptian texts and the archaeological record, the work presents evidence of a wider and more cohesive Mycenaean kingdom than has been previously described. Containing copious notes, four appendixes and numerous maps, this volume will appeal to advanced students of Greek history and archeology. Jorrit Kelder studied Mediterranean Archaeology at the University of Amsterdam, and received his PhD in Ancient History at the VU University at Amsterdam. He has worked for various archaeological projects in Greece, Syria, Egypt and Romania. His main research interests are the eastern Mediterranean during the Bronze Age, trade and diplomatic contacts in antiquity, and processes of state formation.
