For researchers, academics, students, and business-to-business e-commerce solution providers and managers, Kumar and Sareen (financial studies and computer science, U. of Delhi, India) examine trust and technology issues in business-to-business e-commerce. They argue that vulnerabilities in technology and limitations of interactions, such as security, privacy, authentication, non-repudiation, quality of web interface, system performance and infrastructure, and environmental factors, have created barriers to trust building in inter-organizational relationships. Drawing from a 2007 study of the technology-related practices of 106 sample companies using inter-organizational systems for their business-to-business e-commerce applications and 65 business-to-business e-marketplaces in India, they offer a technology and trust model that identifies issues, theories of trust and models of e-commerce, and specific practices for how they can be addressed by technologies like anti-virus, firewalls, adoption of technology-related policies, and a web interface. Case studies detailing process-related aspects of successful implementation are provided. Annotation c2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
