商品簡介
Social scientists in Korea and elsewhere look at social movements and democratic transition, the institutionalization of social movements, and spin-off movements and diffusion processes. More specifically, they consider such topics as the Korean democracy movement, policing protests in the post-authoritarian era, the entry of past activists into the National Assembly and South Korea's participation in the Iraq War, the institutionalization of the women's movement and gender legislation, the Korean gay and lesbian movement 1993-2008, and the evolution of Lawyers for a Democratic Society's legal mobilization process since 1988. The 14 papers were first presented to an October 2008 conference at Stanford University, California. Annotation c2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
