商品簡介
This monograph on gender and foreign policy examines issues of motherhood and the "maternalized body" in relation to three recent periods in American military and diplomatic history. The volume examines the anti-nuclear movement of the 1980s, the first Gulf War, and the post 9/11 attack on Iraq, and argues that gendered discourse over foreign policy transformed from a maternal child protecting pacifism to a pie baking, yellow ribbon wearing jingoism by 1990s. This volume will appeal to readers interested in deconstructionist approaches to international relations studies, as well as advanced general readers in gender studies.
