Novillo-Corvalan (comparative literature, U. of Kent) explores the literary relationship between Argentine poet and writer Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986) and Irish novelist and poet James Joyce (1882-1941) to provide a model for the type of comparatist practice that illustrates the cultural, literary, linguistic, and geographical concerns that her discipline is aspiring to address at a time when some scholars have declared it moribund.
