商品簡介
The late Murnane, who specialized in ancient Egypt at the U. of Chicago, offers travelers and students a history and guide to Egypt that includes both public and private sites. He provides an introduction to the land and its antiquities, then describes specific places throughout the country, with detailed plans and notes for major and minor monuments and about 250 area maps, plans, and photos (mostly b&w). The book was originally published as the Penguin Guide to Ancient Egypt and has been revised and updated by Aidan Dodson (archeology and anthropology, U. of Bristol, UK) to include a section on the Islamic and Coptic monuments of Cairo, written by scholar Nicholas Warner. It deletes the detailed accounts of the displays of various museums in Egypt (due to their ongoing changes), and includes only practical details and a general overview, with the exception of two newly refurbished museums.
