JOHN SALT is Emeritus Professor and Director of the Migration Research Unit at University College London, UK. He is a consultant to the OECD, EU, Council of Europe, Australian and UK governments, National Audit Office and Office for National Statistics. John was awarded the Royal Geographical Society, Edward Heath Award for contributions to the study of population and migration in Europe.
TARIQ MODOOD is Professor of Sociology, Politics and Public Policy and the founding Director of the Centre for the Study of Ethnicity and Citizenship at the University of Bristol, UK. He has extensive academic publications, worked on numerous research projects and is a regular contributor to the media and policy debates in Britain. In 2001 he was awarded an MBE for services to social sciences and ethnic relations.
