Lion in the Long Grass

A moving story of lions on the African Plain.

A lioness hides her cub in the long grass while she goes hunting. But the tall grasses are perilously insufficient defence against a circling pack of jackals and an old male lion feels honour-bound to step in to do some babysitting.

When Old Lion is challenged by a younger male, he uses the last ounce of his failing energy to ensure the young cub remains safe.

Ruth Brown has created a great many picture books for Andersen Press and is highly respected as an author and illustrator. She is married to artist Ken Brown and they have two grown-up sons and one grandson.
