商品簡介
In this undergraduate text, the authors introduce students to critical perspectives on American politics by showing how political conflicts, institutions and processes are influenced by deep inequalities generated by the country's political economy. They begin by describing that political economy in terms of its government, economy and sources of power, and the relationship between the American state and corporate capitalism. In a chapter new to this edition they describe the power of opinion, and then examine political participation, parties, elections, and movements. They describe the three branches of government in their role as political institutions, and continue by examining the formation and implementation of public policy in terms of foreign and economic policy and the welfare state. They close with an examination of the future of democracy in America. Annotation c2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
