Examines insect virus families found primarily or exclusively in insects, covering all major families of insect-selective viruses except for the baculoviruses. Included are the established families of insect viruses, the newly recognized ascovirus family, and the nudiviruses. The large DNA viruses are described first, then small DNA densoviruses, and insect RNA viruses, followed by a review of the development of arbovirus expression systems and how they may be employed in the future.
