He holds a Ph.D. in marriage and family counseling and a master's degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. Gary Smalley and John Trent are the coauthors of numerous bestselling books, including The Blessing, The Language of Love,Love Is a Decision, and The Two Sides of Love.
