Talkative and exuberant in her little yellow top and skimpy black shorts,Chapman says: "1 have good health and there are so many experiences I wantto pack in while I can. This is different from your normal life and, despite themoments of despair and agony, walking is therapeutic. When you are outthere battling the elements, you forget all the things you normally worry about；you are too busy concentrating. You can't think of anything except survival."Chapman's one concession to the life she is putting on hold is a mobile phone:the birth of her third grandchild is imminent.
