In this work, learning disabilities are defined to encompass intellectual impairment and cognitive disabilities, physical and sensory impairments, and differences associated with the autistic spectrum. UK contributors, including academics and practitioners as well as a few parents, hope to improve how professionals in health and social care provide services to people with learning disabilities. Initial chapters concentrate on themes of empowerment and vulnerability, person-centered planning, building positive relationships, and the medical and social model of care.
