The present volume, a supplement to the 7-volume 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), contains documents associated with three new organizations: the International Seabed Authority, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, and the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf. Among the documents are rules of procedure, agreements, and the decisions of various councils and assemblies, with appendixes containing notifications, applications, contracts, and the standard clauses for exploration contracts. The concluding section reproduces the document Implications of the UNCLOS for the International Maritime Organization as well as charts concerning the evolution of the modern law of the sea, the convention's sources and implementation, and a table of comparable provisions. Nandan, C.F., C.B.E., was the UN Under-Secretary-General for the Law of the Sea and Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority 1996-2009. He is the Series General Editor of the seven-volume series, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982: A Commentary.Commander James Kraska, S.J.D., is a judge advocate in the U.S. Navy assigned to the International Law Department, U.S. Naval War College, where he holds the Howard S.
