WORDS WORK is both an anthology and an autobiography that traces the development of an award-winning author from her days as a high school journalist through a period of academic scholarship to her retirement days as an essayist and poet. Together here for the first time are five complete travel essays, "Rome Alfresco: Picnicking on the Seven Hills," "A Landscape Where Humor Is an Oasis," "On Being a Magnet to Hustlers," "Yes, Lauren, There Are Nice New Yorkers," and "Lament on the Streets of New Orleans."
