Heat Transfer Techniques

Focusing on a relatively new way of embellishing, decorating, fusing and layering fabrics, this book is the first to take an in-depth look at heat transfer techniques. Some techniques have grown out of other traditional?techniques, such as flocking, but they have all been developed through extensive experimentation. Techniques covered here include flocking, foiling, photo-transfer, fusing and sublimation printing. Applications include fabric for fashion garments, soft furnishings and fabric wallpaper, swimwear, kites, and photo-transfer on felt textile art.

Dawn Dupree creates textiles using screen-printing and hand print heat-press techniques to make one-off hanging panels for interiors. She has been making textile art since 1990, exhibiting widely in the UK and abroad, and her work appears in the collections of the Crafts Council, the Welsh Council and the Victoria and Albert Museum. She has been involved in a diverse range of teaching projects and is visiting lecturer at Goldsmiths College in the UK and is a senior print tutor at the London Printworks Trust.
