Roman London and the Walbrook Stream Crossing

Londinium's main east-west road bridged the Walbrook stream at a site known now as 1 Poultry, where excavations have detailed occupation since about AD 47, and findings complement excavations at nearby areas to allow in-depth analysis of Roman development. The first volume of this two-volume set presents eight integrated chapters offering introductory material followed by discussion of pre-Roman topography and time periods through the late fourth century AD, when decline and Roman abandonment occurred. The second volume contains thematic chapters studying social and economic developments, as well as specialist information presented as a series of appendices.
