商品簡介
This anthology of work in genre studies compiles 24 chapters by international scholars, selected from presentations given at SIGET IV, the Symposium on Genre Studies, held in Brazil in August 2007. Chapters represent approaches including rhetoric, sociology, and Gestalt psychology. A section on genre theories examines how theories may be seen in relation to each other. Chapters in the section on genre and the professions consider topics such as professional discourses of mental health. A section on genre and media looks at journalistic genres in the public sphere. Subjects examined in the section on genre in teaching and learning include design of courses in academic writing for masters and doctoral students, and a pedagogy for making students more aware of genre. A final section on genre in writing across the curriculum provides examples from different settings around the world. The book includes b&w photos, illustrations, and images of texts. There is no subject index. Bazerman is affiliated with the Department of Education at the University of California-Santa Barbara. Annotation c2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
