Poems from the Heart of a Woman

My mother's name is Lovella Bagley, she is the mother of 10 children. She always took time to teach us about God and biblical principles. All of her life she wanted to write a book. She was married to my father Lee Earnest Bagley Sr. They were married for 65 years. Unfortunately, he died on December 12, 2009. My father was the plumber and the supervisor for a large apartment complex in Lubbock, Texas. He had a great sense of humor and a wonderful personality. In my upcoming book called "Why am I here?" I will discuss in details about my family and our life. My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at the age of seventy - fi ve. I watched her go from a vibrant woman full of life to being in a wheelchair. I cried, when I saw the sad look on her face when the doctor gave her the bad news. Her impending illness did not discourage her. She was still determined to fi nish her poetry writings in her journal. She knew that she was quickly losing her memory. Day after day I watched her struggle to remember words, names and events. Each night she wrote poems and short stories and put her journal in a silver suitcase. Years passed and I my siblings became her caregiver. I thought a lot about that silver briefcase throughout the years. During this time we had already relocated to Dallas, Texas to explore new job opportunities. My brother Rodney decided to go to Lubbock, Texas to visit our relatives. He went to a storage shed to get some furniture. He walked to the back of the storage unit. In the corner next to the wall. There it was! The Silver suitcase" I was so excited, I knew that there had to be a reason for me fi nding it again. In this book "Poems From the Heart of a Woman" it displays poetry written by my mother as well as some of my poems.
