商品簡介
A dozen essays reproduced from their original publication between 1975 and 2003 reflect King's interlocking scholarly interests, crossing boundaries of region and gender and the subdisciplines of intellectual and social history. They consider the relationship between humanist ideas and social context, especially that of Venice; three Venetian humanists who wrote about family relations and a fourth who employed a battery of humanists to write about his own relationship with his eight-year-old son; and women as participants in Italian humanism, women in the Veneto, and women as mothers in their role of transmitters of culture. One of the essays is in Italian. Annotation c2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
