In 15 contributions, music therapists from Brooklyn to Belgium reflect on how music one plays or listens to has the ability to penetrate the anguish of grief, pain, and even the cognitive distortions of schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease. Therapists from diverse theoretical orientations and therapeutic settings, from psychoanalytic to music-facilitated labor and childbirth, discuss the specifics of music therapy through case examples.
