Film Synthesis and Growth using Energetic Beams：VOLUME388

The title symposium was held in April 1995 during the MRS Spring Meeting in San Francisco. It covered a variety of topics related to the synthesis and growth of thin films using laser deposition and ion-beam techniques. A common theme in all presentations was the interaction of energetic beams (with energies from eV to MeV) with surfaces, and how energetics and kinetics affect film synthesis and growth. The proceedings are organized in four parts: pulsed-laser deposition; ion-assisted deposition, hyperthermal beams, and surface dynamics; opto-electronic materials, nitrides, and carbon films; and beam-induced effects, chemical effects, and characterization.
