商品簡介
In the opening of his sociological analysis of reciprocity and gift-giving, The Gift, Marcel Mauss quoted the mythological advice of the Norse god Odin to exchange ideas and gifts with trustworthy friends and to address individuals in whom one has no confidence "with fair words but crafty heart and [to] repay treachery with lies." Ogino (sociology and social work, Kwansei Gakuin U., Japan) aims to extend the social theory developed by Mauss in the 1920s by focusing on this flip side to gift giving: the crafty heart or the scam. For Ogino, scams point to "blank spaces" in society, social fissures in which accepted social norms don't apply. Furthermore, he suggests, the world of "blank spaces" may in fact be the "primary world." Distributed in the US by ISBS. Annotation c2007 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
