商品簡介
There's a project in Italy to create an archaeological park for the general public in connection with the lost city of Classe--a site located south of Ravenna that includes a Roman burial ground, a late sixth-century basilica, a tenth-century monastery and royal palace, and a later medieval church. This project was at the core of a one-day conference held in May 2006, at the U. of Leicester, UK, convened to investigate how and why some towns failed while some continued in Roman and post-classical times. This volume contains 13 contributions--some based on that conference and others invited to expand the scope and depth of the collection. The two editors are affiliated as follows: Neil Christie (U. of Leicester, UK) and Andrea Augenti (Ravenna-Bologna U., Italy). Annotation c2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
