This text for educational researchers and advanced students shows how social network analysis can be used to investigate educational phenomena. The first part of the book makes the case for using social network analysis and introduces key concepts of educational research and the social network perspective. Part 2 describes empirical tools for collecting and managing network data and measuring network analysis; readers of this section should be familiar with research methods in general and with basic applied statistics. The last part of the book presents examples of applications. A companion website offers data files, key terms, lecture slides, and instructions for general and specialized software applications used in social network analysis.
