This book covers for the first time all the modernnoninvasive techniques used to assess various functions ofthe skin in both normal and diseased states. In the firstpart, the basic so-called bioengineering methods aredescribed such as quantification of the skin surfacemicrorelief using image analysis, measurements oftransepidermal water loss and skin blood flow, determinationof skin thickness and elasticity, quantification of erythemaby colorimetry, and analysis of sebum secretion.
