商品簡介
The changing financial situation of academic medical centers in North America has created an increasingly stressful environment for the physicians, scientists, and other faculty working at some 125 medical education centers across the U.S. Thirty-five American and Canadian academics and researchers contribute 17 chapters to the first text focusing on the issues of faculty health and well-being in academic health science centers across North America. The text evolved from a conference held at the U. of Texas-Houston Health Science Center in the summer of 2007. Coverage includes the context of concern for faculty health, examining faculty health, personal and social dimensions, perspectives from the humanities and interpretive social science, and supports and interventions. The authors' findings and recommendations provide an essential framework for protecting and enhancing the well- being of academic medical faculty and institutions, and the future of academic medicine.
