商品簡介
The purpose of this volume assembled by Doern (public policy and administration, Carleton U., Canada) and Johnson (political studies, U. of Ottawa, Canada) is twofold. First, it is a conceptual exploration of the nature and dynamics of international, federal, provincial, and city/local community levels of regulatory governance in Canada. Second, it offers normative arguments for institutional changes that can improve regulatory governance in different sectoral areas. Topics addressed in the first section of the text include the acceleration of US-Canadian regulatory cooperation, potentials for common federal- provincial-territorial-policies on regulation, local government autonomy and regulation, and the impact of multilevel regulation on federal science-related activities. The chapters that focus on particular sectoral areas include discussions of food safety, investment and trade, the forest sector, municipal drinking water, municipal wastewater management, oil, health services, and emergency management.
