商品簡介
Addressing domestic violence in the context of female victims, the author examines the aspects of culture that impact the processing of domestic violence cases in two court models: a traditional court and a specialized problem-solving domestic violence court. She draws on interviews and observations conducted in 2008 of court community members in two Massachusetts district courts to consider how their community cultures were shaped and the impact of the characteristics of each on the processing of domestic violence cases, as well as the criteria used by each to typify their cases as strong or weak, and the consequences of this process; the resulting decisions on appropriate sentences for cases; and how members of the court community respond to and use the law to achieve their goals in different ways.
