This resource contains descriptions of popular books published from 2010-2012 for children ranging in age from infants to 14 years old, organized by board books, picture books, books for early readers, chapter books, novels, informational books, graphic novels, and poetry. The books consist of proven favorites and are based on suggestions by Association for Library Service to Children members from around the country who work with children in school and public libraries. They also reflect themes of diversity and require at least two favorable reviews in professional journals to be included. Books based on movies or licensed characters are excluded.
