This work guide for new and experienced English teachers explains why and how to change pedagogical practice to incorporate new forms of digital multimedia narratives and to help primary and secondary students become multimedia authors. The use of works such as Inanimate Alice and a virtual Macbeth are explored. Other subjects include using contemporary picture books to explore the concept of intermodal complementarity, enabling students to be effective multimodal authors, and empowering older adolescents as authors with multimodal versions of literary narratives.
