In this autobiography, star baseball scout George Genovese puts emphasis on the quality of baseball talent he signed to the major leagues. He begins with his childhood in Staten Island, however, telling stories of his love of the game. He was signed to a St. Louis Cardinals' farm team and played in 1940 and 1941. Then Genovese served in World War II, where his throwing arm was permanently damaged in a Japanese raid on Okinawa. He has stories from more than a decade spent as a manager in the minor leagues and then, beginning in 1964, scouting Southern California for the San Francisco Giants. He was involved in signing Bobby Bonds, Jack Clark, Chili Davis and Dave Kingman, among others. Annotation c2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
