Countless soldiers endured shrapnel wounds and received blood transfusions in the trenches, but she can’t forget the young amputee who begged her to avenge his suffering at Stalingrad.

作者簡介
Jochen Hellbeck is Associate Professor of History at Rutgers University. A Russian specialist by background, he is particularly interested in autobiographical accounts and people’s self-understandings in historical perspective. His awards include the Fulbright, Michigan Society of Fellows, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, and Thyssen fellowships. His previous book,Revolution on My Mind, explored personal diaries written in the Soviet Union under Stalin.
