Pasco's study was designed to explore and understand the educational experiences and life trajectories of two female high school students identified as at-risk. The text explores how the accumulation and use of economic, social, symbolic and cultural capital may influence academic achievement and personal life pathways, and examines connections between learning and context. Pasco concludes with implications for greater understanding of the high school students at-risk culture, and recommendations for public and educational initiatives directed toward supporting these students.
