Losquino provides evidence of West Germanic features in a set of runic inscriptions that are several centuries earlier than other scholars have found such features. She compares the earliest Danish runic inscriptions--dating anywhere from the second to the fifth centuries--with younger inscriptions--fifth to seventh centuries--from Germany and England that scholars agree show features of Western Germanic. Her topics include whether runic names ending in -o are a West Germanic feature, runic names showcasing loss of -z, the Anglo-Saxon corpus and the importance of the orthographic reform, and the continental inscriptions. 作者簡介
Irene Garcia Losquino is a Teaching Fellow in the Centre for Scandinavian Studies at the University of Aberdeen, where she received her PhD. She has been a visiting researcher at the University of Notre Dame, as well as at the Universities of Tubingen and Uppsala. She is also involved in Public Engagement with Research, for which she was awarded an Arts and Humanities Research Council grant.
