Fetzer (emeritus philosophy of science, U. of Minnesota-Duluth) explores issues in religion and politics relating to science that have arisen because of the political aims and activities of the Christian Right. He examines the case for Creationism in its various forms as contrasted with evolutionary science, emphasizing what counts as genuine science. He also considers moral claims of the Christian Right in such matters as abortion and stem-cell research. The only adequate theory, he concludes, is deontology.
