商品簡介
To the 314 proverbs and fables from Bali Nyonga in the North Western Region of Cameroon that Fochang collected for the 2001 first edition (Wisdom of African Sages), he has added more from other African countries to make a total of 559. He explains the meaning of the original ones, but for the others--gleaned from published collections--he only notes where they are from. Among the proverbs are never leave your hoe at home while going to the farm, do not step over a crocodile to go looking for a fish, if you are drowning you must drink some of the water, and a tree that is not taller than you cannot shade you.
