商品簡介
This study examines Zimbabwe's “parallel identities” through analysis of the different versions of the creation of Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) promoted by black and white nationalists since 1890. Drawing on oral histories, national monuments, and archival documents, the book investigates cases of political figures, revolutionaries, and leaders of indigenous groups to highlight ideas of colonization, patriotism, racialized nationalism, racial and national identity, collective memory, and the myths of conquered peoples. Ultimately, the study asks whether the concept of the nation-state is even applicable or necessary for understanding African history. Annotation c2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
