商品簡介
Swiss economist Bernholz contributes to the literature on inflation with a comparative historical analysis from the Roman currency debasement in the fourth century to the hyperinflations of the 1990s. He analyzes all 29 hyperinflations in history--all of which, except that of the French Revolution during the 20th century--along with the currency reforms that ended them. He also considers the political forces responsible for inflation and for ending it by adequate reforms, and the conditions under which they can be expected to operate. Further topics are the importance of monetary regimes for the stability of money, the qualitative characteristics of inflation and its consequences that are stable traits over the centuries, and the difference between moderate and high inflation and the reforms needed to end them.
