商品簡介
Gonzalez' (TESL, U. of Cincinnati) text developed from her own experiences as an international graduate student in the U.S., and her interest in mentoring international students when she became a college professor. She examines the effects of social, cultural, cognitive, affective/emotional, and linguistic factors on the adaption process of international graduate students to a new social and academic environment--the American college culture. The author notes that, while ESL classes serve a purpose, there are a variety of other important resources international students need. She recommends ways that administrators and faculty can assist students, and suggests strategies that the students themselves can use to successfully adapt to the host culture.
