Karen A. Wink, PhD, is an English professor and Chief of the English and Foreign Language Section at the U. S. Coast Guard Academy where she has taught freshman composition and literature as well as upper-class world literature for sixteen years. Previously, Dr. Wink earned her doctorate in English education from the University of Maryland and taught high school English in the Howard County, MD school district for four years. She has presented rhetorical pedagogy at many conferences in including CCCC, NCTE, NEATE, and RSA.
