In this collection of recent work on governance in public and non-profit organizations, European contributors in business, management, and industrial economics examine how contingency, behavioral, and evolutionary perspectives can help us understand governance mechanisms. Part 1 deals with the relevance of context, behavior, and evolution in research on public and non-profit boards. Part 2 explores contingency and behavioral perspectives on public governance. Some specific topics considered are board-executive director relationships, the impact of board effectiveness in clean-tech enterprises, governance failures in municipal bankruptcy, and leadership in local government organizations in Lithuania and Germany.
