商品簡介
The economic consequences of terrorism have been subject to academic empirical research since the 1990s. In several cases, data about terrorism incidents and economic indicators dates back to 1968. Two types of investigations are characteristic for this field: (1) quantitative assessments of the impacts of transnational terrorism on either the whole economy or particular economic sectors of a large set of countries over a long time period; and (2) case studies focusing on the impacts of a single terrorist event or a defined series of events on the economy of a region, a state, or on a certain economic sector. This book provides a deeper insight into the complex relationship between terrorism and the economy. The contributions point out the differences between isolated terrorist attacks, prolonged terrorist campaigns (e.g. Hamas terrorism in Israel, the JI campaign in Indonesia, and Islamist terrorism in the Indian Kashmir region), and terrorist activity in a setting of violent crisis or war (e.g. IS terrorism in Syria and Iraq) with regard to the economic impacts of such attacks or campaigns. Several essays identify factors that can contribute to a precise forecasting of economic effects of terrorism. *** Librarians: ebook available on ProQuest and EBSCO [Subject: Criminology, Economic Law, Commercial Law, Trade Law]
