Satellite Earth Observation is a very dynamic field of science, as it is closely related to developments in several new technologies: sensors, satellite missions, and computer resources. The updated version of this book will cover the most relevant issues related to the acquisition and interpretation of remotely sensed data. The original environmental scope of the textbook is now emphasized by extending examples of EO environmental applications. The book has the same structure, but all chapters will be updated and all figures will be in color.
Emilio Chuvieco is a professor of geography and director of the Environmental Ethics chair at the University of Alcala, Spain. He was a visiting professor at the University of California at Berkeley and Santa Barbara, the Canadian Remote Sensing Center, Cambridge University, and the University of Maryland. In addition, he is science leader of the Fire Disturbance project within the European Space Agency’s Climate Change Initiative program. He has coauthored 330 papers and book chapters, and 23 books. He has advised 35 Ph.D. dissertations. He is currently co-editor-in-chief of the journal Remote Sensing of Environment
